Q: How do I renew my insurance licence?

Q: Why is a Social Security Number required?
A; You are required to supply your Social Security numbers in connection with your application for an insurance license to comply with federal law as set out in 42 U.S.C. ยงยง 450(c)(2)(C)(i), 654, and 666
Q:What does it take to get an insurance license? A: In Illinois, you must complete a pre-licensing course and pass the state examination for the line of insurance that you want to sell."e; In Missouri, you must pass the examination
Q:Can I mail in my license renewal to the Illinois Department of Insurance? A: Effective August 1, 2012, the Illinois Department of Insurance will not accept paper renewal application. If you need assistance renewing your license, call 618-233-1228 for an appointment to do so. We charge a small fee to complete the process for you.
Q:What are the lines of insurance? A: The 4 major lines are life, accident and health, property (fire) and casualty.

Q:Is there a special requirement to sell Long Term Care Insurance? A: In order to sell Long Term Care Partnership Insurance, you must complete an initial 8 hours LTC Partnership training course. At each renewal you must complete 4 hours on Long Term Care Insurance. If you sell any life or annuity product offering LTC benefits, you must complete these requirements. Other states will accept IL course for their requirement.
Q:I didn't complete my 4 hour LTC refresher within 24 months of completing the 8 hour initial course, what must I do? A: You must complete the initial 8 hour LTC Partnership training course agian.
Q:Is there a requirement to sell Flood insurance? A: You must complete a 3 hours course on flood insurance in any state.
Q.What is the National Producer number and how to I get one? A. The national producer number (NPN) is a number that is assign to each producer. This number is being used in most states in place of your social security number and will identify you in the states where you are a nonresident producer. Click here for more information.
Q:I did not get my renewal notice, what do I do? A: In most cases, it was because you moved and did not notify the Insurance Director. Send the Insurance director an email or letter with your new address or call.
Q.How do I meet the continuing education requirement? A: You can attend a seminar, do a self- study or complete a course online. Each state is different, so check with your Department of Insurance. You need only to complete the continuing education in your home state. Check our site for available courses
Q.I got my license renewal and there is something about ethics classroom training, what is that about? A. Effective January 1, 2010, Illinois (other states) require 3 hours of classroom ethics training at each renewal period before insurance licenses will be renewed. Failure to complete this training will result in cancellation of license. You will could subject extra charges to renew licenses after cancellation date. Completion of classroom ethics is required.
Q.I want to get licensed to sell insurance in Illinois, what must I do? A. You must complete a pre licensing course of 20 hours with 7.5 hours of classroom training for each line of insurance that you want to sell. We will provide you with a certificiate of completion that you must take the testing center. 2nd Step, you must register for and pass the state examination. 3rd step, you must complete and mail the NAIC uniform Application for Individual Producer to the Department of Insurance with your payment of $180.00.The easier process is to go to www.nipr.com and complete the application online.

Q.How do I get a license to sell mutual funds & variable products? A. Step 1-complete a U-4 Form, get fingerprinted and turn in to your broker-dealer. Step 2-Contact us to attend a seminar or click on our site to order the series 6 & 63 materials or check our schedule. Step 3- Pass the exams.
Q:Is there a requirement for Ethics training? A: You must attend a 3 hours seminar on ethics. Our schedule of Ethics courses can be found on our home page.
Q:Why has Education Concept raised their fees? A: Illinois Department of Insurance is charging us $.50 per hour of continuing education we report.
Q:What are the requirements to sell annuities? A: You must complete a one time Annuity Suitability course to sell any annuity contract.
Q:What is a Illinois requirement for Viatical Settlement Brokers training? A: Effective July 1, 2010, You must complete a 4 hour course (online, classroom or textbook) on Viatical Settlements that can be found on our home page
Q:What is Illinois requirements for Public Adjusters? A: You must complete complete 24 hours of continuing education ever two years. Three of those hours must be classroom Ethics.
Q:How do I get licensed to sell variable insurance products & mutual funds? A: You must contact a Broker-Dealer and be appointed with them. The process includes getting fingerprinted, completing a U-4 Form, paying fees and passing the Series 6 & 63 examinations.
Q:I left my broker-dealer and they give me a U-5 Form. Is there a time requirement to keep my Variable insurance license? A: You have one year to get appointed with a different Broker-Dealer. If you don't get reappointed within one year, you start the process all over.
Q:When does my variable license renew? What is the cost? A:Your Broker-Dealer will notify you in November that your license will end on December 31. You pay $75 for each state that you are licensed in.
