Q: Why is a Social Security Number required?

Q:Is there a special requirement to sell Long Term Care Insurance? A: In order to sell Long Term Care Partnership Insurance, you must complete an initial 8 hours training course and, on each renewal, complete 4 hours on Long Term Care Insurance effective July 1, 2008 for all new licensees. Established producers have until July 1, 2009 to complete the initial training for Illinois. Other states have the same requirement, just different dates.
Q:Is there a requirement to sell Flood insurance? A: You must complete a 3 hours course on flood insurance in any state.
Q.What is the National Producer number and how to I get one? A. The national producer number (NPN) is a number that is assign to each producer. Q:I didn't get my renewal notice, what do I do? A: In most cases, it was because you moved and didn't notify the Insurance Director. Send the Insurance director an email or letter with your new address or call.
Q.How do I meet the continuing education requirement? A: You can attend a seminar, do a self- study or complete a course online. Each state is different, so check with your Department of Insurance. Q.I got my license renewal and there is something about ethics classroom training, what is that about? A. Effective January 1, 2010, Illinois (other states) require 3 hours of classroom ethics training before insurance licenses will be renewed. Failure to complete this training will result in cancellation of license can could subject extra charges to renew licenses after cancellation and completion of the ethics requirement.
Q.I want to get licensed to sell insurance in Illinois, what must I do? A. You must complete a pre licensing course of 20 hours with 7.5 hours of classroom training for each line of insurance that you want to sell.
